Geospatial Intelligence with Open Source GeoGPT for Earth Exploration

My research introduces an open-source Geospatial Generative Pre-Trained Transformer (GEOGPT) model, leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) applications. The study demonstrates the potential of GEOGPT in analyzing snow cover changes over the Indian Himalayas using scatterometer satellite datasets. Key contributions include the integration of natural language querying, advanced data analytics, visualization, and contextual understanding within the model, enabling more efficient and automated exploration of geospatial data. The experimental results validate the effectiveness of GEOGPT in addressing critical challenges such as predicting snow avalanches, flash floods, and responding to natural disasters. Furthermore, the study identifies areas for improvement in user interface design, model training, and natural language processing, paving the way for advancing geospatial intelligence solutions.
